Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis - new approach in operative treatment

Introduction. Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (GM) is described as a very rare, non-lactating, chronic that occurs primarily in women of childbearing age. Significant clinical problem related to GM the diagnostic differentiation from breast cancer. Less advanced forms can be successfully treated with limited surgical excisions and radical treatment recommended only for most extensive forms. Case report. First examination patient, by surgeon at Oncology Institute Vojvodina was December 2018, when initial suspicion cancer set up. Core needle biopsy performed after histopathological (HP) analysis, confirmation obtained. The patient initially offered Prednisone Methotrexate therapy, which she refused accepted treatment. Surgical few weeks consisted performing nipple spearing mastectomy excision orifices all fistulous ducts their primary sutures. HP findings operative specimen confirmed diagnosis GM. While there were no signs dieses relapse, suggested secondary reconstruction left breast. Twelve months operation, interposition contoured silicone implant into muscle pocket standard manner. Conclusion. Nipple esthetically satisfactory patients locally
